July 1st First Friday Artwalk

During this First Friday Art Walk live art and music performances on the street welcome the public to downtown Woodland in addition to several artist receptions hosted at various locations held in conjunction with the “Main Street Open” event.

At Gallery 625, 625 Court St., an exhibition titled “Outside the Box” curated by YoloArts opens at 5:30 p.m. and features the work by the artists of the city sponsored “Visual Voltage” painted utility box program. The exhibition includes a full sized utility box as an example of the original work created in downtown by the represented artists Amar Azuena Cid, Heidi Bekebrede, Emanuela Harris Sintamarian, Chris Kidd, Joanna Kidd, Anthony Padilla, Yvonne Roque, Alejandro Rubio, Kent Smith, Zoe Walsh, Sid Wellman, and Randy Won.

Artist Kent Smith, who has a painted utility box outside of Corner Drug, will exhibit his work at Kevin Cowan Financial Services, 426 Main St., with a hosted reception that begins at 6 p.m. Down the street at Main Street Music Center, 527 Main St., Smith’s painted community piano is featured outside the shop for the public to play. Also at the music center, David’s Broken Note host a “Musical Petting Zoo”, for kids and tours of the studio space will be offered.

A variety of art exhibitions and live music is scheduled for the evening.

Poppies Gallery, 510 Main St., featured artist Sandra Jennings-Jones explores landscapes and still-life works in acrylic and pastel media. A meet the artist reception begins at 6 p.m.

Sweet Potato Pie, 528 Main St., kids are invited to participate in chalk drawing in front of the shop.

BlackPine Catering & Events, 422 First St.,starting at 6 p.m. mixed media artist Rachael Zur ”Hydrophilic” abstract works and sample bites from their catering menu are offered.

 Blue Note Brewing Company,750 Dead Cat Alley, paintings by artist Kevin Wilhite. 

Uvaggio, 703 Main St., Heather McNeil illustrations and designs.  

Additional receptions will be hosted at various locations with some downtown businesses offering extended business hours during First Friday.
